My life has always centered around writing. From the novel I wrote at the age of 12 to the graduate degree in writing poetry, from scribbling thousands of journal pages to constructing an award-winning moot court brief in law school, writing has always been my Very Favorite Thing. Writing is how I’ve processed grief, come to conclusions, expressed love, and argued my case.
I wrote my way to a degree in philosophy from The College of William and Mary (B.A. ’99), through a graduate program in creative writing from Hollins University (M.A. ’00), and straight into a law degree from Washington and Lee University School of Law (J.D. ’04).
These days I spend my time engaged in learning with my two inquisitive children, immersing myself in domesticity, and intentionally bungling song lyrics with my husband.
And for the record, yes, that is my real name. Yes, I married him anyhow.
